Hey everybody come to the everglades swamp swap on December 25th the first day of William Jewell precourse. Bring a gift to share with the group. Everyone is invited but its not mandatory. We will have an early dinner and the swap will follow. Gifts should be something you would like to receive. Its great if it is recycled, used or well loved. Should not cost you more than $10 if you are purchasing something. Homemade is also great! Be creative and let's have some fun!
Sunset Island Times provides staff and friends a pathway to share in the Outward Bound Community based here on Sunset Island, FL. The Times will also serve as a tool to deliver timely information on courses, activities, airport transportation, and news from NCOBS' Florida Programs.

Looking Forward ...
Sunset Island is Warming Up
Greetings from Sunset Island. We, Kat Triplett, Anne Lovett, Jeff Lovett, and myself, are buzzing around base camp getting ready for the arrival of the 2011/2012 season. If you are not aware, Jeff Lovett has taken on a new role on Sunset Island. He is now our new Site Manager and I have taken on the role of Program Director. Anne and Kat will take on their same roles as last season (Food Manager & Logistics Manager). So, for staff returning to the Glades, there will be a lot of the same old faces, just a couple having different job titles.
As staff prepare to make their journey down to the base, they should take a few moments to take a look at the links to the right. There is some helpful information for staff about transportation, reading materials, and interesting links for working at this base camp. We want to strive to have a happy community on the our island, and this is a great way to get off to a good start.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving & of course we have so much to be thankful for. Beautiful friends that pitch in to help get this place up and running, beautiful scenery to work in, and a wonderful organization to work with. Enjoy your day & we look forward to seeing you here in the Glades.
Be well. Trish

Trish enjoys a day of boat projects?
Hmmm, no fun when you live on an island and run out of the appropriate size hardware... time to paddle across the river for a trip to Win-Carr.

As we await the return of the first round of Ransom crews, guest chefs Shelby & John are mixing it up in the kitchen while Anne is gone to Naples for more supplies.

Ransom Course Start 2011
By boat and by van we headed over to the Gulf Coast Ranger District Office in Everglades City to meet the first round of Ransom Everglades students.
This year is the 28th year that the FL Programs of the North Carolina Outward Bound School has run programs with Ransom students.
The Ransom course start typically marks the beginning of our busiest time of the year for Sunset Island.
